Healthcare for low or no income families and individuals
Starting in April 2023, keep you and your family covered by completing and submitting your Medi-Cal renewal packet.
Since March 2020, Medi-Cal renewal processing was put on hold, and beneficiaries retained their Medi-Cal coverage due to the continuous coverage requirement. The continuous coverage requirement ended on March 31, 2023.
Alameda County Social Services Agency will resume the Medi-Cal renewal process beginning April 2023. Your renewal packet will be mailed to you and you must submit it before the end of your renewal month.
If you do not complete and submit your renewal packet, you may lose your Medi-Cal coverage starting July 1, 2023. If you would like to report any changes to your contact information, or have not received a Medi-Cal renewal packet or a notice that your Medi-Cal has been renewed, contact or visit us.

To learn more about Medi-Cal eligibility criteria, click hereBeginning April 1, 2022, pregnant individuals who are currently receiving Medi-Cal or newly eligible for Medi-Cal will receive an extended 12 months of postpartum Medi-Cal coverage.
To learn more about what is covered under Medi-Cal, click hereBeginning July 1, 2022, the asset limit for Non-Modified Adjusted Gross Income (Non-MAGI) Medi-Cal programs increased to $130,000 for a household of one person and $195,000 for a household of two people. $65,000 will be added to the asset limit for each additional person up to a maximum household size of ten people. Non-MAGI Medi-Cal programs affected by the asset limit increase include health coverage programs for seniors (65+), individuals with disabilities, individuals who are in nursing facilities, and which include, but are not limited to the Medicare Savings Program, Tuberculosis Program, Dialysis Program, etc.
All individuals and families who qualify for MAGI Medi-Cal do not have an asset limit test and will not be affected by this change.
